The San Diego Canoe Kayak Team (SDCKT) in collaboration with USA Canoe Kayak (USACK) will be hosting the USA Sprint National Team Trials and the Silver Blade Regatta at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California on Friday and Saturday April 22 & 23rd, 2011.
National Team Trials is the first step for USA paddlers in qualifying for the 2012 Olympics in London. The tentative schedule calls for 1000m and 500m races on Fr…iday and 200m heats and finals on Saturday. The top sprint kayakers and canoeists will be coming from all over the country to compete for a spot on the USA National Senior and Junior Teams.
The Silver Blades Regatta is for Stand Up Racers, Kayaks, Canoes, Surfskis, and Outrigger Canoes all on the Olympic Training Center course! The Regatta will run on Saturday only. This is the first time Stand Up Racing, Outriggers and Surfskis will compete at the Olympic Training Center and may possibly be a small step towards making them Olympic Sports!
Open Age classes can compete in the following divisions with a minimum of 6 entrants creating a division:
OC1
K1
C1
Surfski
Stand Up Men 14′ and under
Stand Up Women 12’6″ and under
14 & under age classes can compete in the following:
Lightning Kayaks
Stand Up

9:00 registration
10:00 – 11:30 am: 200m prelim heats
11:30- 12:00 pm: 2000m Finals
1:30 – 2:30 pm: 200m Finals
3:00 pm: 3 person relay for Stand Up or Lightning Kayaks
A separate awards banquet will be held at the Chula Vista Country Club that evening where the members to the National Team and Junior National Team will be announced as well as the awards for the Silver Blades Regatta.
